- Business support to the arts reached a record $1.16 billion in 1997, compared to $875 million in 1994, and $22 million in 1967, the year BCA was founded.
- 65% of all business support to the arts in 1997 was attributed to small businesses - those with annual revenues of $1 million to less than $50 million. These companies represent 96% of the American business community.
- 93% of all decision-making about business support to the arts was made by top-level executives.
- 92% of all business support to the arts in 1997 was allocated to local projects in a company's headquarters and major operating communities. Seven percent (7%) was earmarked for national projects, and 1% for international programs.
Conducted by Roper Starch Worldwide, Inc. during the summer of 1998, based on 938 usable responses. Businesses were randomly selected from Dun's Market Identifier file.
