American Century honored for arts support
October 6, 2005, New York - American Century Investments has been honored as one of the top 10 companies in the nation for its support of the arts.
The Business Committee for the Arts and Forbes magazine this week recognized the Kansas City-based company at a ceremony in New York.
Judith Jedlicka, president of the national arts organization, said American Century ranked among companies that "are in the forefront of providing the arts with cash and non-cash support, as well as incorporating the arts in their employee, customer and community relations."
American Century participates in the Kansas City Business Committee for the Arts, a program of the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City.
The investments company has been a partner in the Plaza Art Fair, sponsoring tents and booths. It showcases staff-created artwork in its buildings and purchases artwork from artists around the country to display in its facilities. It also is a financial sponsor of many performance arts programs in the area.
The nine other companies honored for their support of the arts: American Airlines, Deere & Co., Meredith Corp., Norfolk Southern Corp., Shugoll Research, The First American Corp., United Technologies Corp., Vinson & Elkins LLP and Wells Fargo & Co..
