Since its inception in 1956, the Fitzpatrick Family Companies-Country Curtains and The Red Lion Inn, Stockbridge, MA; Blantyre, Lenox, MA; and various other lodging and dining properties-have been dedicated to supporting the arts-both established and emerging-in Berkshire County, MA, and surrounding communities to enhance the quality of life and add to the economic vitality of the area.
The Fitzpatrick Family Companies have benefited the arts, business and the community by:
Sponsoring the Boston Symphony Orchestra, including summer concerts at Tanglewood, Lenox, MA, each year since 1986; providing Tanglewood Music Center fellowships-full scholarships of $10,000 each for 2 to 3 students annually since 1978; and contributing $1.35 million toward the construction of Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood. In addition, the company hosts its annual "Christmas Party," for all Country Curtains employees at a Tanglewood Boston Pops concert in July and a Country Curtains annual employee appreciation night at Berkshire Theatre Festival, Stockbridge, MA.
Spearheading the capital campaign to restore the Unicorn Theatre, Stockbridge, MA, and since 1990 providing season sponsorship for the Berkshire Theatre Festival, Stockbridge, MA.
Contributing a leadership capital grant to the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), North Adams, MA, and continuing to support the MASS MoCA as a Fifth Anniversary sponsor, an Angel Investor and a co-sponsor of its 1999-2000 Season-combined grants totaling more than $600,000; providing a major grant to Shakespeare & Co., Lenox, MA, to help it relocate and renovate the Founders Theatre, Lenox, MA; and supporting the Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge, MA, by donating $400,000 to the capital campaign to build the new Museum in 1993, making a three-year commitment beginning in 2003 of $150,000 to sponsor the Museum's KIDS FREE program which admits visitors 18 years old and younger free as A Gift to Families from Country Curtains and the Red Lion Inn, and sponsoring the Museum's national tour of Pictures for the American People.
Displaying its extensive art collection-including works by Norman Rockwell, Mary Cassatt and Steve Hannock-throughout its offices, lodgings and dining properties and its 24 Country Curtains retail stores across the country.
Encouraging employees to participate in the arts both as attendees and board members, and listing information about cultural organizations with links to each organization's Web site on the Country Curtains Web site.
