To support its mission of contributing to the overall quality of life in the communities it serves by supporting the arts.

Process

  • In 2006, during Nationa Nurses Week, HCA provided free tickets to Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum of Art for all HCA nurses and their families from the Middle Tennessee area.
  • Twice a year, HCA underwrites admission to Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum of Art, allowing the public to enter for one dollar per carload.
  • The company sponsored Body Quest – a permanent exhibition at Adventure Science Center that features larger-than-life organs, enabling children to learn about them and encourage a healthy lifestyle. 

Results
The free tickets for Nurses Week provided HCA employees with an incentive to visit a popular cultural destinations with their families and served as an expression of HCA’s gratitude for their work.  The ticket-underwriting program also brings new audiences to the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum of Art, many of whom visit for the first time because of these offerings.  The HCA-sponsored exhibition Body Quest attracts thousands of schoolchildren each year and encourages them to seek a healthy lifestyle.    (2007)
