Objectives
To support the arts as part of its philosophy of giving back to the communities in which it operates, in addition to recognizing the intrinsic value and the positive impact that the arts have on the quality of life of a community.
Process
- Sponsoring, coordinating and participating in numerous special community events, one of which is Melodies of Christmas a live performance, featuring the Empire State Youth Orchestra and The Area All-State Choir, that benefits the Albany Medical Center's Child Cancer Program.
- Supporting the Albany Symphony Orchestra's Sunday Symphonies for Families program that offers children and their families a fun interactive introduction to classical music.
- Partnering with arts organizations to provide discounted admissions through the use of the Price Chopper AdvantEdge card (a shopper card) to a variety of cultural and arts venues and events across the Capital Region where the company has stores, including The Troy Junior Museum, Proctor's Theatre and the Palace Theatre.
- The company also supports a wide range of emerging and established visual and performing arts organizations throughout the Capital Region of New York State and New England, and contributes to the capital campaigns of various museums and cultural institutions. Some of which include The Music Haven Stage, The Norman Rockwell Museum, The Tang Museum and The Saratoga Children's Museum, and The Empire State Aerosciences Museum.
Results
During the past five years, Price Chopper has focused on supporting programs that make the arts more accessible to children and families.
