Company: Minyard’s Food Stores Inc.
Headquarters: Coppell, Texas
Industry: Supermarket
Company Size: Large (annual revenues of more than $250 million)
"The direct result of being a good corporate citizen is increased traffic in our
stores and, ultimately, increased sales at the cash register."
– Gretchen Minyard Williams, Co-Chairman of the Board and Co-CEO
Objectives
To support and promote the preservation of the city’s cultural heritage, to
enhance its reputation as a supporter of the community, and to draw new and
repeat customers into the store, thereby increasing its overall sales.
Process
- Minyard’s Food Stores partners with Old City Park — Dallas’s only historic
village dedicated to preserving structures, artifacts and materials related to
the history of Dallas and North Central Texas between the years 1840-1910 — by
selling park admission tickets and publicizing park events.
- Old City Park publicizes — by way of promotional materials, its Web site and
newspaper advertisements — Minyard’s 17 Dallas-area stores as places to purchase
admission and event tickets for Old City Park.
- Gretchen Minyard Williams, Co-Chairman of the Board and Co-CEO of Minyard
Food Stores, serves on the Old City Park’s Board of Directors. She has also
assumed leadership roles in fundraising for the park and was instrumental in
launching a Circus in the Park, the park’s single largest fundraising
event.
Results
The partnership between Minyard’s Food Stores and Old City Park helps the
historic village by boosting its ticket sales and attendance, and helps
Minyard’s by driving traffic to the stores and underscoring the company’s
70-year commitment to giving back to the community. The ticket sales and
promotional materials Minyard’s provides enable the park to reach a broader
audience than it could on its own.
