Company: Rejuvenation, Inc.
Headquarters: Portland, Oregon
Industry: Manufacturing, Retail and Catalogue Sales
Company Size: Small (annual revenues of less than $50 million)
"Rejuvenation has a strong commitment to being a responsible
member of its community and the world. Our direct support of arts organizations
and individual artists and our encouragement of our employees' appreciation
of the arts are manifestations of that commitment."
– Mary Roberts, President
Objectives
To attract new customers, to enhance name recognition and its presence in the
community, and to enhance employee relations.
Process
- Rejuvenation annually sponsors one production presented by Artists Repertory
Theatre (ART), a small theater organization in Portland. Store merchandise is
loaned to ART for use as props, and information about ART productions is
distributed to customers. Rejuvenation also underwrites in-store performances of
"Actors-To-Go," the traveling component of ART.
- Employees are encouraged to display their own talents at company gatherings and
celebrations. Performances have included opera, Cambodian folk singing/dancing,
Kurdish dancing and music performed on a didgeridoo.
- To encourage its new employees to participate in the arts, the company
reimburses each employee for entrance fees to any art, history, or science
museum or gallery and matches employee contributions to arts organizations in
the community.
- To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the company sponsored a
"Learning Day" for all employees. It included artistic demonstrations and
workshops, and the company hired an independent filmmaker to shoot a documentary
film on the company’s history.
Results
Rejuvenation’s support of the arts attracts new customers, creates an appealing
work environment for employees, and enhances its image in the community while
simultaneously bolstering the success of the Portland-area arts organizations
and artists.
