"The arts are a creative outlet and one of the main reasons that I'm in business."
- Dugg Hadden, President
Objectives
To give employees experience working in every aspect of the audio/visual business while at the same time supporting community art organizations.
Process
- Industrial Strength provides equipment and its employees to arts organizations to assist with their audio-visual needs. For example, the company edited videos, loaned its high-quality projector and supplied the sound system for American Stage, a not-for-profit theater in St Petersburg. It also provided a technician who made color corrections of scenery for Manhattan Casino presented by Live Arts Peninsula Foundation, a St. Petersburg not-for-profit. It has also assisted the Salvador DalĖ Museum, The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and the Ybor Festival of Moving Images.
- It cosponsored "From New York With Love" presented by the Covivant Gallery, a gallery for experimental and conceptual projects in Tampa, and provided, cost-free, the needed audio-visual equipment for the exhibition.
- Industrial Strength also trains the technical staffs of arts organizations so they can handle their organization's needs.
- It also cosponsors arts organizations performances, and gives employees tickets to performances and arts events in the community so that they are familiar with the arts.
Results
As a result of its involvement with the arts, Industrial Strength's employees have gained valuable experience in their industry, and being involved with the arts has also encouraged them to take creative approaches in their work with business clients. The arts organizations served by Industrial Strength have received positive feedback about the quality of the sound and technical aspects of their performances. This has increased Industrial Strength's business relationships with current clients and has helped the company gain additional exposure in the community. (2004)
