"The arts are my passion. Seeing the positive impact and pure enjoyment that
the arts bring to the residents of our community and to the employees of our
company has motivated us to always integrate our business with the arts. The
benefits are priceless."
– Walter G. Seinsheimer, Jr., President and Chief Executive
Officer
Objectives
To enrich the quality of life of the community and enhance its reputation, to
build local interest in the arts and to increase cultural offerings.
Process
- Dolphin Architects & Builders sponsors the Island Concert Series, a
biannual outdoor concert program of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra (CSO) held
on Kiawah Island, South Carolina. In addition to underwriting all event costs,
the company helps coordinate an exhibition of works by local and regional
artists held in conjunction with the concerts.
- Dolphin co-sponsors the CSO weekly concert series, Masterworks, and gives
its employees free tickets to these concerts, and encourages them to volunteer
for CSO events. The company also hosts gatherings for its employees and their
families before each concert.
- To promote the visual arts, Dolphin annually commissions a local artist to
create original drawings of its new custom homes. The drawings are reproduced on
note cards, which are then presented to the owners of each new home. In
addition, the company works with artist Frankie Welch of Alexandria, Virginia,
to design and produce limited-edition scarves, which are used as client gifts.
Results
As a result of its support of the arts, Dolphin has established a reputation as
a company committed to improving the community, enhanced its name recognition,
and increased sales. The company’s support has also heightened interest in the
arts, and helped the Charleston Symphony Orchestra increase concert attendance,
membership and volunteer support.
