Objectives
To enhance its reputation in the community; to provide a creative and fulfilling workplace experience; and to increase awareness and appreciation of artists and arts organizations in Fairbanks.
Process
- Design Alaska works with Ice Alaska, a community organization dedicated to the promotion of ice art, to select a local artist to create an ice sculpture that is displayed annually in front of the company's offices. Employees work with the artist to plan and execute the sculpture.
- Design Alaska professionals also provided engineering and architectural services to assist the Fairbanks Drama Association with the renovations of its theater.
- Additionally, the company supports the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, the Symphony Association, and the Concert Association, and makes tickets available to employees and their families for the performances and events presented by these organizations.
Results
By collaborating with local artists and arts organizations, Design Alaska is increasing awareness of its services and is building team spirit among its employees. Opportunities to assist the arts and to participate in arts events gives Design Alaska employees a sense of pride in the company and enhances employee morale. The company's support of the arts also helps to attract world-renowned artists to Fairbanks and enriches the quality of life of the community. (2003)
