"To have the ability to visualize possibilities, maintain enthusiasm for their
work, and simply be excited by life, people must have some creative stimulation... The
arts provide the very best way to add joy and inspiration to life."
– Mark Kanter, Vice President and General Manager
Objectives
To enrich the quality of life of employees, to enhance the company’s presence in
the community, and to promote arts education and increased access to the arts.
Process
- CableRep Advertising, a division of Cox Communications, offers employee
volunteer assistance, and provides advertising placement and promotional support
to numerous arts organizations including the Oklahoma City Philharmonic
Orchestra, Ballet Oklahoma, the Lyric Theater of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma City Art
Museum, and the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum, among others.
- To support the Oklahoma Business Circle for Arts Education’s efforts to restore
arts education in school curricula, CableRep took a leading role in creating a
promotional campaign called ArtsPower and helped place public service
announcements on television stations throughout the state to provide parents and
others with information about the effort.
- CableRep also facilitates partnerships with other community organizations by
promoting, on local and national cable networks, initiatives such as a
commemorative concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of Israel
presented by the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and the Oklahoma and Israel Exchange
(OKIE); a fundraiser and free concert in support of the Oklahoma City
Philharmonic held in the city zoo; and the sale of a Philharmonic CD to fund the
creation of a national memorial at the site of the Murrah Federal Building.
Results
CableRep’s involvement with the arts encourages employees to volunteer their
creative skills, which enhances the company’s presence in the community and
often leads to new business relationships. In addition, the company’s
involvement has consistently reduced operating expenses, increased ticket sales
and boosted membership support for the many arts organizations.
