"Through our support of the arts in Green Valley we have ensured a vibrant
cultural presence that benefits the residents of the Green Valley area, as well
as our business."
- John A. Kilduff, Executive Vice President
Objectives
To increase purchases of its residential and commercial properties and to
enhance the quality of life in the Henderson community.
Process
-
In 1982 American Nevada Corporation (ANC) created the Green Valley Outdoor
Sculpture Collection as part of its multi-use development project in Henderson.
The collection features works by local and nationally-renowned artists, which
are permanently installed around company offices and retail centers in
Henderson. The company also creates small rotating exhibitions to complement the
permanent installations, and it has also commissioned and donated two sculptures
to the communitys junior and high schools.
- Through a partnership with the Arts Council of Green Valley and Henderson,
American Nevada sponsored Green Valleys version of
Shakespeare-in-the-Park and funded Shakespearience, an educational
program designed to provide a better understanding of Shakespeare, the
Elizabethan period and theater in general.
- American Nevada also sponsors the Arts Festival in the Green Valley Town Center.
Held every spring and fall, the festival is organized by a local artist and
American Nevadas marketing director who work together to coordinate a juried
art exhibition, develop childrens activities and games, and promote the event.
The company hosts the event throughout its Green Valley property, provides
company volunteers for set up and guest services, and underwrites the cost of
supplies and advertising.
Results
American Nevadas support of the arts has helped turn Green Valley into
Hendersons cultural center, and, as such, has increased residential and
commercial real estate sales, and enabled the arts and arts education programs
to expand and serve the needs of the community.
